PHILOSOPHY
We believe that violence is endemic to our society in the forms of general abuse of women, children, and men. This violence includes but is not limited to murder, rape, battering and other forms of violence, as well as attitudes and values that create and reproduce violence. We believe that all people have the right to live a life free of violence to have freedom from violations of their personal autonomy and physical integrity on the street, in the home, at the work place and in our program. We believe that all people have the right to make decisions in their own lives.

Violence Free Crisis Line has serviced Flathead County since 1976, when a group of women were approached by NOW in regards to the services available for rape survivors. The program began as Kalispell Rape Crisis Line with a NOW start up grant providing a 24 hour crisis telephone line, emergency shelter in safe homes, and prevention education.

These services have been uninterrupted since that time and the program has grown to include many other services. On the 10th anniversary the name was changed to reflect a more positive, prevention approach. In addition, the organization was providing services to those who had experienced many different forms of violence including domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, child sexual abuse, incest, assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and, more recently, stalking.

VISION
Violence Free Crisis Line envisions a world in which families are transformed and healed through individual power of choice and freedom to live to their full potential within a safe and peaceful community.
